Star Wars Clone wars action figures include the Millennium Falcon, the All Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE), the General Grievous, and Ahsoko Tano. They are the newest figures in the Star Wars series and the Millennium Falcon is exemplified below. The Millennium Falcon is a little over 2 feet long.
If you are an action figure fan, it is a must to visit the action figure museum. Opening in October of 2005, the action figure museum is located in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. The goal was to include over 10,000 action figures that are not only nostalgic and can be looked at in glass cases like most museums, but to also be hands on and have an area where kids, young and young at heart could play with the action figures.
The museum provides a behind the scenes look at the world of action figures. They rotate their collections so even if you have visited it before going back would give you new items to view and interact with. One of the collections that is always on display is one that that highlights Oklahoma creators, including the comic strip creators that have roots from Oklahoma.
Even if you do not like history and typical museums, you will like this one and probably want to go back for more. You can find out more by watchng this short clip.
Today we would like to take the time remember September 11, 2001 and how the current generation’s lives changed. Captain America stands for good and so does America. On this day 7 years ago we were shuttered at the potential of losing our freedoms as we were attacked along with the then standing World Trade Center Towers. America stands for good, for freedom, and for life. If you are an American or from any country that stands for what is right- Freedom- then take today and remember what life could be like without it!
Remember today, and then do not forget it tomorrow or the next or the next. Captain America doesn’t.
You might be thinking enough about this Batman movie and write about action figures, but how can you look at this accomplishment as an action figure fan and say this is not related or important? Movies make action figures successful and more valuable as well as television shows and comic books. After all without these characters, there would not be action figures that resemble them.
As for this one, Batman: The Dark Knight has clearly made the action figures surrounding this movie a success. The fact it just brought in half a billion dollars in the US alone should not go unnoticed. It is an accomplishment that only one other movie has met. Action figure fans should celebrate.
Just a quick update on the Dark Knight and the box office results this past weekend. Tropic Thunder stayed number one this past weekend where the all time best Batman movie dropped to number four as it took in a little over 10MM. The numbers are still impressive but based on the momentum change for the last two weeks we are convinced it will remain the number two all time box office movie and not make it to number one. I wonder what could have pushed it over the edge? Was the timing of Tropic Thunder the spoiler or was time itself the spoiler. It still can be caught in movie theaters but probably not for much longer so if you can catch it there it is well worth it. It will be on DVD before we know it.
Regarding our Dark Knight movie watch as to whether it will break the all time record of The Titantic, as highest grossing film at the box office, the race became closer this weekend as it was number one this past weekend again. Total box office revenue is now at 442 million and it moved into third place in the all time movie chase. It is expected to over take the original Star Wars movie which holds the second position within the next week. The only question is whether it will beat The Titantic. We will keep a close eye on it and let you know. As the popularity continues, Batman action figures become even more valuable. Check some out now.
You probably have heard of week in review but this is going to be weekend in review based on the two action figure movies that are out currently. We have been on Batman watch since the record breaking opening and this weekend the new Star Wars movie came out as well so we thought we would combine the info.
We will start with Batman, as it lost its first place hold to a comedy just released starring Ben Stiller and Tom Cruise. I am pretty sure that would be an interesting pair to watch but since they do not have any action figures for them, we will pass on reviewing that. The Dark Knight did however, move into second place in all time domestic box office revenue and most likely wil not beat Titantic based on its slip this week. If you can not come in first, second is not so bad when it comes to this record. It made a lot of money and it is sure to break lots more records when it hits DVD in a month or two. That movie studio can not complain.
Now on to the Star Wars movie, Clone Wars. This is an animated version and the reviews are mixed. It placed third in the theaters this weekend and proabbly will not go past that spot. The movie premise was to set stage for the animation series coming out this fall on the Cartoon Network. You can catch a scene here. Star Wars in animation? Not sure if the fans are ready for that. What do you think?
Did you know that with all the Star War movies, there has never been a movie premiere until now? Did you know that any of George Lucas movies have never had a premiere. Seems strange but true. The newest Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Clone Wars might be animation but it holds a first for George Lucas and the Star Wars team.
The recent Comic-con convention wrapped up a little over a week ago and if you do not know what Comic-con is, you might be asked to check your action figure hat at the door? Granted Comic-con is a celebration of comic books, right? If you think that, you would be partially right and 100% right if it was back in the 1970s, but these days Comic-con has gone Hollywood and over time have grown immensely adding booths, attendees, special effects, special announcements, collectibles, memorabilia, movie previews, and so much more. It is not just for the geeks anymore, as they would say. It was the place to be during the end of July.
There would be no way to cover the complete convention (you would have had to gone), but here are some of the highlights:
There were over 125,000 attendees most of them dressed in some sort of costume of their favorite character
As always it was held in San Diego, CA
There were over 1000 vendors
Hollywood starsthat attended were Billy Crudup, Kiefer Sutherland, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Neil Patrick Harris, Amy Smart, Alison Mack, Robin Dunne directors, producers and other stars of upcoming movies relating to comic books
Movie trailers were shown from the upcoming movies including Watchman, a DC comics creation and opening in March 2009, Twilight, a love story between a teenage girl and a vampire opening this December, Terminator Salvation, the next in a long series of Terminator movies and this one did not star the California governor, and Star Wars- Clone Wars opening this month which is the animation version of Star Wars and will be the introduction of the television series this fall
Animation was highlighted with not only the Star Wars movie and tv series, but another tv series called Igor, whose voice is portrayed byJohn Cusack
As you can see, Comic-con has changed since its creation 40 years ago and can you even imagine what the creators of such comic books and superheros of the old days think of it? It is fun to attend and if you have never been, start planning now for Comic-con 2009. Fun is guaranteed especially for action figurefans and collectors.
As you might already know there is another movie being shot now for scheduled release of May 2009 that has action figures related which is the X-Men. Based on the X-Men television show the second in the movie series is being shot right now. If you are an action figure fan you should also know that Comic-con is also happening right now in San Diego, CA. Comic Con originally began in 1970 with only comic books but has expanded to include many other products and categories and one is action figures. At Comic-Con this year they have special featured action figures including the new collectible Iron Man. This convention has truly grown from year to year with more products and special appearances by the Hollywood scene showing up daily.
Speaking of that, it was reported today that Stan Lee, who has created numerous comic book characters and once the president of Marvel Comics, will be appearing in a cameo role of X-Men. Lee met up with Hugh Jackman who protrays Wolverine on X-Men, at the convention and there they released the information regarding the cameo appearance. Jackman seemed to be an awe of the meeting and looks forward to the portrayal.
